lanolips BEAUTY BOX COMPETITION

A few weeks ago I was invited to enter the Lanolips Beauty Box Artist Competition,
and now I can share my entry with you!
The brief was to include a cherished item, a dash of nostalgia, a hint of Australiana and an item that stands the test of time.
I wanted to convey the feel of a vintage beauty advertisement, and was inspired by
the amazing work of artists like René Gruau for his 1950s Dior ads.
May Gibbs' books served as the inspiration for both my cherished items and hint of Australiana.
(Note the wattle, albeit 'Lanolips pink' wattle!)
The jury is still out I believe, so I will let you know how I go.
The winner's artwork will appear on a limited edition Lanolips Beauty tin.

Fingers crossed!

Hi!

I just "liked" your picture following the link on Facebook & commented (under my real name: J.J. Barkas).

I'd love for you to check out my blogs & also, maybe you could do a picture of me?

Well, just thought I'd ask - I love your drawing style.

Cheers!

Thanks guys!

Medusa - Unfortunately I don't take on private commissions as my work keeps me so busy, but thank you for asking!
